Dear friends,

I started a small project of my own, entitled, "Collection of Postcards from the World". I am looking for people who care to send me postcards from their country. Likewise, I will also reciprocate with my country's postcard.

Anyone who care to participate in my small project of postcards. Please drop me a line. I do hope I will hear from people from all the world.

I know I can never have enough time, money, and youth to travel the whole entire world. However, a postcard can be my eyes. I know a postcard can tell me a lot of things about a country, a place and people. So, I hope whoever who read my post will joined it the fun.

I have been back home for 2 months now. A society system based on the principle of individual rights are sprouting everywhere at every corner of Malaysia. Properly known as capitalism. Or better yet, a society system based on the principle of rich individuals who have money to buy their rights. Doesn't that sounds familiar to you?

Turn left you see capitalists with a pocket full of money for investments and sales. Turn right you see constructions and pollution. There is no breather nor room for environmental or political activists to set their feet here. My political science degree in Malaysia is practically useless. My communications degree is still worth a lil more than the political science certificate as having a communications degree in Malaysia means all you can do are: (1) sales (2) sales and (3) sales or public relations. How pathetic, was my first reaction. I begin to wonder where is my rights as a Malaysian here? I have absolutely no rights to utilize my brain cells nor my passion to improvise the condition of my country thanks to the phenomena mentioned.

August 31st, Malaysia's independence is around the corner. Am I happy? Am I celebrating? Should I be celebrating? I see no reason why I should not celebrate. I also see no reasons why I should celebrate. I celebrate because this country is still better than countries that are currently on war right now. I do not celebrate because the case of brain drain for many science and arts fields are increasing. I do not celebrate as what the government has promised the people here is still not fulfilled yet. Freedom of speech is still denied for Malaysians, especially for those who wants and speaks the truth. Freedom to practice political rights are still infringed and shut down.

I am going to sign a contract with a Japanese educational institution later. Breaking my entry level status subsequently activating my brain cells and increasing some income for my pocket. Being an administrative assistant to begin with is not all shameful and to be looked down upon. I promised myself I will strive to be the best entry level clerk one can see. Till then.

disillusion, desperately wants to go home, and vanish.

This might sound like a random email but it is not. I feel disillusion, desperately want to go home or just disappeareaed right now. My roommates are very decent people, as I have told either one of you if not all, but their inconsiderate loud voice is pretty disturbing to me when I want to go to bed at 10pm coz I function at 6am tomorrow, whereas they funtion at 10pm, of course and sleep at 6am. Therefore, I had enough of it, during the middle terms and I gave them a pinch of what I go through every night before I go to sleep. In the morning, I think of last wednesday, I turned my music, obviously a foreign language music which is japanese techno, ^.* Lovely, even though, I felt horrible, but under that stress of not having 6hrs of sleep since they moved in, relying on sleeping pills to sleep, or tell them to keep their voice low for at least 100 times, my action is worthy it.

Hence, after that particular morning, obviously, things change. When I came back, guess what, one of the Americans, obviously, Americans, coz they always think they have the rights to anything, including the rights to being rude, threw my shoes, Lovely, this happened to me last spring and summer, moving my things w/o my permission, throwing my things w/o my permission. And guess what they want to become social worker(s). Speak of education. Speak of being civilized. I was uncivilized in the morning, and that was about it. It got better of me and I decided to chill. When I opened my cupboard, my things were moved. They wrote words about mean people sucks and etc on their board that they hung on their door. Speak of education.

But, if you turn the time back, looks who started it first, I have told them tons of times, that quiet hours are when I want to go sleep, etc etc...This happened not only to me but to other international students as well. I slept at one of the student association representative's girl's futon for a night, last night on the classroom table, and to night probably in the classroom again. I am getting very very disillusion.

I do not like to go to sleep in a house where people throw your things around, move your things around. They might even attack me, who knows. I just want to go back home, so badly.

Ay a point, I thought of ending my life. Because if I bring this issue to the housing, since I am also the Resident Assistant, would they care?? No, they cover the students lack of manners but moving me, so tell me where is the truth?? Covering your own acts by being creative and bold. You move, especially other international students away.

I am disillusion, I do not want to come back to a place where one consider themselves to be equal, free and whatever. I just want to go home.

I just want to be deaf and blind because deaf and blind speaks the kindest language in the world.

I lost my purse and I am in am mess. I do not know who to talk to, who to ask for help I do not trust anyone at all right now...I cannot call home to tell my parents about my situation.

Isnt it sad, I am sitting here comparing my tiny dumb situation where there are hurricane, tsunami etc victims who do not have a place to live at all?

Just shoot me.

1) What is thinking?

Question: What is thinking?

According to John Chaffee, the word critical originates from the Greek work kritikos. It means to question in order to analyze and to make sense of things and people. By analyzing, we examine our own thinking and the thinking of others. These activities will help us to arrive at the best possible conclusions and decisions.
However, our beliefs are conscious or unconscious forces that guide our actions and emotions. Thus, it is important for the beliefs to accurately reflect the real world. In order to have a truthful belief, one needs to be a critical thinker to question whether or not to adopt the belief. A critical thinker is not concern about the origin of the belief, but intends to justify the belief through diligence observation and debate. In other words, the critical thinker is interested in the forecast of the observation and debate that either provide an accurate and truthful claim or vice versa. The critical thinker also seeks sufficient evidences to support the fairness of the argument (Kiersky and Caste).
Logic is the study of interrelation or sequence of facts or events that is predictable and unavoidable that point out errors or faults of an argument. A rational person gives and receives all reasons for the purpose of distinguishing truth from falsehood, appearance from reality, and mere opinion from informed opinion. Hence, a rational person is also a critical thinker who is attentive and cautious in assessing both logical and illogical claims (Soccio and Barry).
Therefore, critical thinking means to recognize and evaluate opinions. Critical thinking provides reflections on whether the ideas are reasonable or not. Thinking is sometimes regarded as two harmonious processes. The first process is the production of ideas (creative thinking). This creative thinking is accomplished by widening your focus and looking at many possibilities. The key to this process is to resist the temptation to settle for familiar limited ideas. The other process is the evaluation of ideas (critical thinking). Critical thinking is accomplished by narrowing your focus, sorting out the ideas you have generated and finally identify the most reasonable ones. (Ruggiero)
I am so drowsy this morning, like right now, this instant, after taking 4 sleeping pills yesterday at around 10pm in the evening. The reason I am taking this pills is because i cant sleep because my new roommate has this habit of swtiching on the tv,flippppping the channels, till she is tired.
Just being me,whether I am an Asian or not, it doesnt matter because I am the kind of person who does not like to tell others what is inappropriate to do,especially she is around the same age as I am.

I have been trying to purchase phone cards online and the results are negative. I want to buy phone cards so that I can call back home to tell my parents that I have safetly arrived in Saginaw,Michigan.

Nonetheless, I am not gonna report the whole truth though. Probably gonna skip the part, where I was detained for a few hours like other foreginers in the immigration. Sucks big time. Even though, this is a new process to make sure that there are NO TERRORISTS entering the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. I call that LAME-O-SUPREM-O.

Seriously, once I have gotten my degree in this small but good school in Michigan I am gonna get my butt out of here. I seriously dislike been throughly investigated by the immigration hunks. Eventually, we will have to give our blood samples to the immigration department, man. By the way, I have A blood type. Free from AIDS coz I dont sleep around, and I do not promote sleeping around aside from your husband and wife. Or, they will probably want a string of your hairs for DNA inspection to make sure that you are not a terrorists. Hahahahahaha. I find that hilarious though.

Yes, I am back in America, but I am not really thrilled though. I am thrill upon starting classes and rolling my eyeballs a 4000 degrees when American students start giving unnecessary and unwise comments and opinions about certain things. I might be wrong here, not all the students practice that all the time but....ask my Asian friends in Australia and UK, boy, the mat sallehs aka ang mo aka non-asians seriously give the lamest upon lamest opinions that one can ever imagine. Again, not everyone does that but some do. ^.^

I am gonna take French. I subscribed to one of the threads titled what kind of subjects shouls be taught in school, and surprisngly, languages are not that popular supported in that thread. Oh well, to me all the subjects are equally as important as the value of money and the value of other people's opinions. How many out there are given the chance to learn???? And to learn in an environtment that spoil students, aka air conditioners, heaters, good professors, etc etc...I love learning about languages.

Many ask me,what the heck are you gonna do after learning certain languages???? Well, in my personal stinky piggy point of view, languages help me to understand a culture better. Languages help me to understand the history of the group of people better. Languages help me to communicate with people better. Languages help me to move around the world. Languages help me to understand what is wrong with the world.

err...maybe what I am typing here does not make any sense, coz I am half drowsy and the effect of sleeping pills started to kick inside my brain again ....Nonetheless, I am trying to cut down my own ethnocentricism. Is that how you spell it..??? @@

Well, wish me luck in my french class, I nearly burst into tears when I first learned spanish. especially when it comes to the pronunciation. ^.^

Actually, my name is Moh Tan. Surname is Lim. Americans identify surname as "last name". I am currently at the airport now. I see a lot of rich people walking up and down. I see a lot of family members all excited, probably going back to their home town or visiting other places.

However, I also see people who contribute to make the airport a comfortable place for the visitors. A cleaning Indian lady smiled at me when I entered the washroom. Mind you, I wanted to brush my teeth so that I wont have bad breath when I am on the place. ^.^ I replied her with a smile and a silent appreciation for without her, the washroom will probably be stinking like a rotted !@#$.

My high school mates claim that I do not have an approachable look. In order words, I look bosy, bosy, bosy. ^^ LoL. In fact, I am bosy!!! However, who cares.

A Vietnamese middle age man sat to me at the Coffee Beans, opened up a conversation with me. I really wish that I can speak Vietnamese. To be honest, people who speak English does not make me feel like an idiot nowadays and proabably in the future. In fact, people who speak other languages make me feel like an idiot. >< Yeah.

So, what is the moral of my own story. I tell myself to learn to speak Vietnamese. That Vietnamese man asked me to help him out with the internet computer. ^.^ I hope I did, I cannot typed in Vietnamese though. I am pretty hopeless.

Least, I am approachable. Sigh, after 6months in Malaysia, I seriously cannot type proper English. All forgotten. ^.^
Thankful that Malaysia is not hit by the waves.
Hi people,
My puppy,Blackie past away this morning. He ran out from the house when my mom open the front gate. We quickly searched for him but unfortunately we are too late. About 5 minutes or so, we spotted him, with blood drooling from his head. It was a hit and run. We dug a 2-3feet hole in our garden and buried Blackie immediately. He is only 5months old, adopted.

The science of smiling is not a joke, but there is still peltny to laugh about. Research by psychos and psychiasts have discovered the link between humour which results in smilign and laughter and physical health.

"Smiling brings an amazing number of health benefits!" claims Paul Jambunathan, consultant clinical psychologist.

Research at Stanford Uni, Dr.William Fry has studied humour for 20 years and found that life just seems to get better when people laugh.

Among the health benefits of smiling and laughter:
1) Increases secretion of positive hormones like endolphins ^^ (endorphins) and serotonin(regulates your mood).

2) Boosts your immune system because it reduces negative hormones and increases positive hormones. It is also suggested that laughing increases the number and activity of antibodies that fight infections.

3) Has a positive effect on your blood pressure.

4) Helps you relax and relieve stress.

5) Increases respiration rate and improves lung funtion.

6) Gives you an aerobis workout. A good 20seconds of laughter is,in terms of aerobic response, equivalent to three minutes of rowing.

7) Exercises 15-20 facial muscles.

8) Stimulates many parts of the brain.

9) People who laugh more recover faster from illness and surgery. It has been suggested that patients with happy personalities use less anaesthesia than other patients.

10) People who are unhappy maybe at risk of getting coronary heart disease.

11) If you smile more, you are probably healthier than the average person who doesnt smile.

Thank you for reading and please smile. ^.^

My mom and I make friends with one of the guy, an immigrant or a foreigner from dunno where. Today, we gave him something. He actually works for the Alam Flora, an environment company. Every time, when I drive to school, before turning into the main road, I will see him but I did not greet him. However, today, my mom asked me to hand in some clothes and food to him. Awesome, he says thank you to me...Hmmm!!! ^^ The feeling is better than meeting Bill Clinton or winning a trip to Sydney.
Osaka is the first Japanese city that I have visited. Osaka is the oldest city in Japan. It is the most ancient or oldest city among Japanese metropolitans. Even though, it is a metropolis, but Osaka is actually a very cultured urban city.

I heard that Osaka is famous for its food, especially, takoyaki! Yes, the thought of cute little takoyaki's makes one drooooool!!!! ^.^ Nonetheless, to a certain extent, some foreigners, especially visitors from the West will find that Japanese food are weird because of their rawness etc.
I have also noticed that I have no idea which country do the flags represented when one's nation flag is posted up on the online-journal. I am gonna take some time to investigate each and everyone's country and origin.
